Each Sound Lock is isolated from the rural outdoor environment by a STC 54 solid steel door. The Music Room and the Control Room are each isolated from the adjacent Sound Lock by a STC 51 glazed door. As a whole, each Sound Lock provides more than 90 dB of acoustic isolation between the Control Room, the Music Room, and the rural outdoor environment. Conversely, the Sound Locks themselves are among the least isolated environments in the studio, with a mere 50 dB of isolation between them and the three loudest environments: the Music Room, the Control Room, and all the sounds of Mother Nature. For this reason, the Sound Locks are best used for audio purposes either when the studio is quiet or when hosting really loud instruments (such as guitar amplifiers or a drum kit). Nevertheless, when you need more isolation than can be provided by a set of gobos in the Music Room, the two sound locks perform admirably.

And they are brilliant little private enclaves when someone needs more privacy/focus than the Control Room can provide.

SL1 is the primary traffic route for co-producers to access the Control Room and the secondary route for accessing the Music Room. (The Loggia is the primary route for accessing the Music Room.)

SL2 is the primary traffic route for artists to access the Control Room and the Music Room. It is also a secondary route for co-producers to access the Control Room and/or the Music Room. Beyond SL2 is the equipment room, where the heart of the digital audio platform lives...
